Core feature

Visual Match

Drop a screenshot or pick a dominant color — find scenes that look like it.

Image mode — drop a reference frame, get every scene that looks like it, ranked.

You remember the shot, not the file it lives in. Visual Match takes a reference — a screenshot you paste in, or a dominant color you pick — and returns every scene across your library that looks like it, ranked by similarity with a timecode on each result. There are no tags to maintain and no filenames to remember, because matching compares what the frames actually look like. It all runs on-device.

Getting started with Visual Match

  1. 1.

    Point Orcah at a folder

An internal drive, an SSD, a NAS. Orcah indexes every video it finds — .mp4, .mov, .webm, even .mxf with its sidecars — and builds a visual fingerprint for each scene. Nothing is moved or copied.

  2. 2.

Open Visual Match and give it a reference

In Image mode, drop or paste a screenshot. In Color mode, pick one of the dominant color — or set a custom one. Both sit under Discover in the sidebar.

  3. 3.

Tune similarity, then send the match onward

Drag the minimum-similarity slider to widen or tighten the net. Every result carries its source file and timecode, so the clip drops into Resolve or Final Cut linked in place (Premiere Pro by request access).

What it can do

  • Image mode: paste or drop any screenshot, frame grab or photo as the reference — it never needs to come from the same camera or shoot.
  • Color mode: match a grade rather than a subject, using dominant colors like Amber dusk, or a custom color of your own.
  • Minimum similarity: a slider sets the cut-off, so you can go from near-duplicates only to a wide sweep of the library.
  • Ranked results: every scene shows its match percentage, source file and timecode, ordered by similarity.
  • Group by video: collapse the grid per source file when one clip dominates the results.
  • Runs on-device: the index and the matching both stay on your Mac.

Pro Tip: start at a high minimum similarity to find near-duplicates and alternate takes, then drag it down — the lower you go, the more the results shift from “the same shot” to “the same look”.
